Item#1089 – 1854 N-3 R1 NGC graded MS65 Red & Brown
The “Reddest” N-3
Lustrous mint red fading to steel brown and chocolate with nearly20% of the red remaining on the obverse, 35% on the reverse. The surfaces are satiny and void of any spots or stains. The only marks are a dull nick on the upper points of star 8 and a light diagonal nick in the field close before the lips. M-LDS, die state b. The fine die line through star 6 is extremely faint, nearly gone, but the stray 4 punched into the curl over the 85 is clear. Our grade is MS63, tied for CC#1 honors in the Grellman census, but this example has the most mint red remaining among the top examples. The attribution is noted on the NGC label. NGC population 1, none finer in RB.
