Shop - 1830 N-6 R-4 NGC AU Details Med Lett Matron or Coronet Head Large Cent Coin 1c

Description

NGC authenticated and graded AU Details. Dark olive brown and steel. The obverse is dull while the reverse displays some frost, but both sides are covered with uniform extremely fine granularity. There are no marks at all and this cent was never “Burnished” as claimed by NGC. Perhaps they intended to say “Environmental Damage,” which would be correct. MDS. The strike is soft, as usual for this variety, and there is very little actual wear on the highpoints. This is one of the sharpest examples known of the very popular Medium Letters (sometimes called “Small Letters”) variety of 1830.
