Description
PCGS authenticated and graded MS 63 BN. Attractive glossy steel and chocolate browns with hints of faded mint red in some of the protected areas on both sides. There is a tiny spot of darker toning on the cheek, otherwise free of notable marks and detractions. LDS Breen State XI with a strong cud break over ATES. Called CC#1 in the Noyes census, his photo #20052, and CC#1 in the Bland census, both showing this as the only mint state example outside the ANS. The obverse is plated in the Clapp reference, Early American Cents, and Penny Whimsy, and the reverse is plated in the 1991 Noyes book on the cents of 1793-1814 to illustrate the LDS. CAC certified. Notable provenance dating back more than 100 years.
