Description
ANACS authenticated and graded EF 40 Details. Glossy olive gray with underlying lighter brown, the latter more prevalent on the reverse than the obverse. There is some old graffiti in the obverse fields earning the Details distinction by ANACS, as well as a dig over F in OF and some scattered trivial marks. Otherwise smooth surfaces with sharp details, amongst the condition census for the variety, the finer known examples including the Wurtzbach Collection piece that hasn’t been seen since 1943, the Norweb-Mocap-McGuigan coin graded PCGS XF 40, and the Partrick coin graded NGC AU Details (Burnished, Cleaned). This has similar sharpness to the McGuigan coin, but with a more even strike. Small Edge Letters. Usual die state with heavy obverse clash marks and perfect reverse.
