Description

PCGS authenticated and graded VF 35. Mostly dark brown with light brown on some high points and microgranularity on the surfaces visible under a glass. There are a couple nicks in the left obverse field, the only noticeable marks, with a tiny natural planchet flaw under O in AUCTORI and tiny raised lumps on the reverse from old, inert oxidation. Struck slightly off center toward the lower obverse resulting in just the top of the date making the strike. Strong die break seen through AUCT and a smaller over O in AUCTORI. One of the finest known for the variety, in the Ford sale it brought $6900. Fantastic provenance, dating back to when Henry Miller owned this piece.
Ex; Henry C. Miller – Hillyer C. Ryder – F.C.C. Boyd – John J. Ford Jr. – Twin Leaf Collection

Year – 1787
