Description
NGC authenticated and graded AU 55. Natural, attractive light gray surfaces free of marks or detractions. Struck on a hand cut somewhat squared planchet with sharp design elements, the dies oriented at 360 degrees. EDS of Noe-6 variety classified as Noe-6.1.1. The Hain-Partrick coin was sold as a Noe-6.1.1 in the Hain catalogue, while classified as Noe-6.1 in the Partrick, while the PCGS AU 58 Jay-Roper-Weinberg coin is confirmed as Noe-6.1.1. That makes this piece one of two (possibly three) confirmed known examples of EDS, and is also Richard Picker’s Noe-6.1.1 Plate Coin. Overall choice with great eye appeal. 70.8 grains. Listed on page 36 of the 2023 Guide Book.
Ex: Richard Picker Collection (Stack’s, 10/1984), lot 8 – Christopher J. Salmon Collection.
