1804    C6                   R2       AU55                                       $ 3,250
Spiked Chin.
Choice lustrous chocolate and steel brown. The fields are satiny and the surfaces are flawless. Just a touch of friction on the highpoints from mint state. The only mark is a rim nick over the right side of the M in AMERICA. LDS, Manley state 11.0, Braig state 8.0, with an extensive series of rim cuds on the reverse. The Spiked Chin is obvious. Removed from a PCGS slab graded MS63BN (PCGS label included, and it mentions the Spiked Chin feature)..

1804    C-8                  R1       EF40+                                     $ 1,050
Spiked Chin.
Slightly sharper with an extremely faint scuff of microscopic hairlines in the field behind the portrait. These hairlines are only visible when you get the light at just the right angle, and even then they are easy to miss. Otherwise, the surfaces are frosty and the eye appeal is excellent. Very close to EF45 in spite of the faint scuff. E-MDS, Manley state 2.0, with a light die crack up from the top of the L in LIBERTY to the dentils in addition to the earlier fine crack passing through the tops of those letters. The Spiked Chin is clear.

1804    C-8                  R1       EF45   SPIKED CHIN          $ 1,250
Steel brown with an exceptionally sharp strike. Mark free surfaces.

 1804    C-11                R3       PCGS XF45                            $ 5,500

. Lustrous light chocolate brown with some faded tan. Well struck.

1804    C-12                R2       AU58                                       $ 1,650
Crosslet 4 without Stems.
Very close to mint state, just a hint of  friction on the highest points of the design, but a faint hairline scratch from the temple into the hair left of the eye and a tiny rim bruise at the B in LIBERTY keep this piece from a slightly higher grade. Lustrous light brown and tan delicately mottled with darker steel brown. Peeps of faded mint color can be found in some of the protected areas.
