Frosty chocolate brown with delicate overtones of bluish steel.
Satiny mint luster covers the protected areas on both sides. There
are some tiny contact marks on the chin and rims, but most of the
rim marks are really tiny planchet chips, as struck. A series of 5
very tiny nicks on the rim over TES in STATES provide the best
identifying marks for this cent. LDS, die state d, with a
shallow but clearly defined rim cud break at star 5. The reverse is
covered with fine vertical die polishing lines inside the wreath
thanks to a fresh die lapping. These fine lines fade and are gone in
the very latest die state. Removed from an NGC slab graded MS63BN
(NGC label included, and it shows the attribution and Reiver
provenance). DWH #2963. |
