Item#1094 – 1854 N-5 R3 Repunched 18 PCGS graded MS64 Red & Brown, CAC Approved
Second Finest N-5
Very attractive lustrous mint red fading to steel brown with about half the planchet showing mellowed mint red. The surfaces are satiny and the eye appeal of this cent is outstanding. The notable marks are a speck of reddish carbon left of the 1, another spot midway between stars 9 & 10, a larger spot between star 5 and the coronet, and a diagonal nick near the dentils under star 3. The reverse is nearly flawless, void of any marks. Nicely struck with radial lines in all the stars. Scarce E-MDS, die state b early. Dull repunching remains visible at the 18 and there is a finely doubled clashmark at the left top of the O in ONE. Our grade is MS63, second finest of the variety in the Grellman census. The attribution and Twin Leaf Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2, none finer in RB.
